Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ) for HOPE

1.      How long does it take to complete the course?
It depends on what course the student takes. On average, for HOPE program, it would take 1 year for Foundation, 2.5 years for Diploma, and 3 years for Degree.
 
2.      Where can I obtain the application form for HOPE?
Please refer to HOPE website at www.hope.org.my. Then download the application form, fill up the form and later send it to us. The mailing address is written on the application form.
 
3.      After I am selected for the HOPE program, what is the procedure of making the payment for the tuition fee?
Tuition fees can be paid via installments plan that is provided by the college or institutions.
 
4.      When can I send the application form for HOPE?
Please refer to the date as per shown in the application form and also its deadline.
 
5.      What is the requirement to enroll for HOPE program?
It depends on the courses’ entry requirements that are set by the respective colleges or institute.
 
Please note that we will give first priority for the child’s parents or guardian where (on average) his/her income is RM 2,000.00 and below per month or RM 24,000.00 and below per year.
 
6.      How much subsidy is given for the tuition fee by HOPE?
On average it is between 10% and 50%.
 
7.      Can I apply for an additional scholarship?
Yes, you may but you have to apply the scholarship by yourself .
 
8.      What if I can’t afford to pay for the tuition fee but I’m still interested to study?
Get loan from organization like PTPTN – subjected to approval from PTPTN.
 
9.      Must I repay the loan?
Yes you must – right after when you begin or start working and receive your first salary.

10.   How long must I wait for the application to process?
It will take about 2 weeks to 1 month to process the application.
 
11.   How do I know whether I am selected to be part of HOPE program?
We will call you and you shall attend two interviews that are arranged by us.
 
12.   Are there any courses conducted by the colleges or institute outside of Kuala Lumpur or Selangor?
Yes there are. Please refer for the updated lists from our website.

13.   What if I have failed in my examination, would I still be able to enjoy the subsidy?
No. The student must pass the exam and then graduate from the respective college or institute. Otherwise, he/she shall repay the subsidize fees to the college or institute.
 
14.   If I’m currently unemployed and I want to study, does HOPE program applicable to me as an individual?
For HOPE program the age limit is until 25 years old.
 
*Please note that the course fees will still be borne by you, as an individual. For unemployed or retired person, you may refer to www.jobmalaysia.gov.my for more information.
 
15.   If I’m currently studying, can I still enjoy the benefits from HOPE?
No because our priority is given to school leavers (after SPM or STPM) and he/she is not currently studying and attached with any private colleges or institutions.
 
16.   Can I switch course if I’m studying half-way through the program?
No, you may NOT.
 
17.   I have finished my PMR/SPM/STPM more than 5 years ago, can I apply for HOPE?
Not for HOPE because it only accepted students who have completed SPM or STPM (not more than 2 years).
 
18.   Would I be able to find a job after I have finished my studies?
We could offer our recommendations but we are not responsible to find a job for you.
 
19.   Would the college or institute provide internship or job after I have finished my studies?
Certain college or institute may provide internship for the students.
 
20.   What if I want to study the course that is not offer by HOPE, can I study first and then later wait for it?
Please study the course which is offered in our list because we do not guarantee the course that you wish or want to study will be available by then.
 
21.   I’m not sure what to study and so can HOPE advise me what to do?
Yes, we may be able to provide counseling and advice – to our best ability.
 
22.   If my results from SPM/STPM are not good, can I still enroll for the course that I want to study?
For HOPE, you may enroll but some courses would need to meet the entry requirements.
 
23.   Does HOPE conduct distance learning class?
No, we don’t.

24.   I’m currently working and I would like to upgrade my skills and knowledge, so can I apply for HOPE program?
No, you may not because it is for school leavers who have just finished SPM or STPM (within 2 years).
